Mary Lois (Taylor) Misken began studying The Alexander Technique in 1987 to enhance her performance as a singer. After six years of personal study, she decided to train to become a teacher. She enrolled at The Alexander Educational Center in Walnut Creek, California, an AmSAT certified training course, where her teachers were Giora Pinkas and John Baron. She has taught the technique since 1998, primarily in the Denver area. Mary Lois' resume in music includes: Michigan State University, B.M. and M.M. degrees in Vocal Performance; student of Gean Greenwell University of Colorado, D. Mus. A. program in Vocal Pedigogy; student of Berton Coffin American Institute of Musical Studies, Graz, Austria; student of Berton Coffin National Opera Company, Raleigh, North Carolina; soprano lead roles Central City Opera Company, Colorado; soprano in the apprentice program (chorus) Extensive performance as soloist in recitals, oratorios, and with orchestras, etc., most recently in California Member, National Association of Teachers of Singing. Mary Lois lives in Littleton with her husband. She has two grown children, and a new grandchild.
